CM Sarbananda Sonowal launches Mukhyamantrir Grammya Paribahan Achoni

  • Minister Sarbananda Sonowal launched a rural transport programme and distributed light motor vehicles to some of the beneficiaries of the scheme .Ten thousand villages would be covered in the first phase of the scheme with a financial outlay of Rs 100 crore.

Virtual Bilateral Summit between PM Modi and his Sri Lankan counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa to be held on Sept 26

  • Virtual Bilateral Summit is being held between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Sri Lankan counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksa on 26th of this month. The Summit will be Prime Minister Modi’s first such virtual engagement with a neighbouring country and also Mr Rajapaksa’s first diplomatic engagement with a leader of a foreign country after he was sworn in as Prime Minister in August.

  • India, carried out successful testfiring of the Prithvi short-range ballistic missile, developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Balasore off the coast of Odisha.   • Theatre personality and Bollywood actor Bhupesh Pandya, who is best known for his role in Ayushmann Khurrana’s debut film ‘Vicky Donor’ has passed away. He was an alumnus of National School of Drama (NSD)

MoS Railways Suresh Angadi passes away

  • Union Minister of State for Railways, Suresh Angadi has passed away after he contracted coronavirus disease. He is the first member of the Union Cabinet to die due to coronavirus. Suresh Angadi was a four-time Lok Sabha MP from Karnataka’s Belagavi constituency. He was elected in 2004, 2014 and 2019.

Dean Jones, former Australian batsman passes away at 59

  • The legendary former Australian batsman Dean Jones passed away on September 24, 2020, due to cardiac arrest. He was 59.
